www.dustycartridge.com My magnum opus.
Me and a couple of friends started DC a few years ago but decided to give it another a shot. Instead of rehashing gaming news, Dusty Cartridge aims to provide readers with consistently original editorial content of the highest quality.
Designed from the ground up for the web of today, dynamically changes to work on nearly all mobile devices (responsive), large fonts and a clean design which is easy on the eye for increased readability. Logo design was inspired by retro typography pieces.

My first attempt at a typography piece, whilst being bored on Valentines Day :)

My take on a teaser poster for the upcoming live adaption of the Phoenix Wright video game by Miike Takashi (Yes the same guy who did the batshit insane ‘Ichi The Killer’).
Very simple photo manipulation. I tried using fancy styles and gradients for the typography but it kept looking cliche & corny. Using just white text whilst overlapping it into the background kept it interesting enough without going overboard with crazy colours.

A custom poster for Breaking Bad. Inspired by retro 80’s posters. Oh and if you haven’t heard of Breaking Bad, do yourself a favour and watch it (its good shit, trust me)

My take on a Criterion Collection style cover for Sucker Punch’s (excellent) game ‘Infamous’.

Custom cover for Nine Inch Nail’s “The Slip”. The cover is based on the idea of digital distortion, in this case literally.
I took a high res image of the original cover and opened it up on Notepad. If you do this with any image, you basically get a bunch of jargon which is the image properties in text or ‘code’ format.
By modifying the contents in a text editor you can edit the image to produce weird sort of effects aka random distortion, which is what you see above. (I literally copied and pasted Wikipedia articles into the picture.)

Custom CD cover for a remastered version of the self-titled sampler from Xero (Xero = Linkin Park before they were Linkin Park). Changed color scheme from the original and added distortion sort of effects.
I tried to emulate analogue TV effects (scan lines, random rainbow coloring) but the final copy out of Photoshop still looked too digital - so I took the final image, threw it up on an old CRT and took photos with a low res camera. Added nice imperfections and random scan lines.
